We Are African

Let's get back to talking about caring for kids...

Before Christmas, this ad in Wired magazine caught my attention.

Was that Lenny Kravitz? If so, "What cause was he involved with?" I wondered.

I read on and learned about an organization called Keep a Child Alive.

Kravitz and numerous others have joined forces to launch "an urgent response to the AIDS pandemic ravaging Africa. They are "dedicated to providing life-saving anti-retroviral treatment to children and their families with HIV/AIDS ." (photo credit)

I'd like to help but isn't this problem overwhelming? "What can one person do?" I lamented.

On their website, I learned that "although life-saving AIDS medicine often costs less than a dollar a day, very few families can afford it."

They are asking each of us to give one dollar a day. They ask us to "please help them survive." The message is compelling. (photo credit)

Cam and I have discussed making the commitment. We haven't made it happen yet but I haven't lost site of the goal. The Girl in the Cafe movie brought the idea to mind again and I wanted to share it with you.

"Each and every one of us contains DNA that can be traced back to our African ancestors."

If you can Keep a Child Alive, please do.

Thanks so much for posting this piece. My oldest daughter is in Mozambique teaching Aides Awareness to teachers so that they can teach their pupils.
Best wishes
