Recently, Cam started playing a Scrabble type game online with his friend, Anthony who is an English professor in Georgia.
One night, a couple of weeks ago, Cam and I sat in the same room, feet from each other, and played the same game.
When my folks were here, I asked if they wanted to play.
They sat with me on the couch and we played across the living room from Cam. Sam took pictures and kept us company.
I am trying to get my mom and dad interested in the concept of Instant Messaging. Since we live so far from them, and many of the people we care about, it seems like a great way to interact without having to travel.
When Sam was visiting them last summer, he and I played Rune Scape online one day. Awhile ago, he was really into playing Lord of the Rings Online.
My grandfather took me fishing and played Uno, Skipbo and Casino with me. Sam's grandfather could slay orcs with him or play Checkers, Chess and Dominoes with him online. We aren't there yet but I'm not giving up.
I've also been pestering other people we care about to start blogs. We are truly interested in what is going on and would love to know more but I understand it isn't for everyone and that's ok. The cool thing is that there are so many ways to connect these days.
A few weeks ago, I met Cam's cousin, Paul through Facebook. Paul lives in Norway and recently traveled to Africa to become engaged to Natacha.
We were able to see photos of their time in Rwanda and Uganda and attend their gorgeous ceremony in spirit. Congratulations, you two.
Last night, Cam said Paul's brother, Neils has started a blog.
I love getting to know more about people we care about. If you are reading this blog, you are one of those people. Thanks for sharing your life with us.
Maybe we can play Scrabble together someday?
